How much do you know about Alaska? What does this American state have in common with Russia? Who discovered this cold lands? How was life arranged there back then and what diplomatic relations did the Russian Empire and the U.S. maintain in the XIX century?

The lecture is dedicated to the anniversary of the Russo-American Treaty of 1824 signed on April 17, which determined the Alaska boundary and Russian claims to the territory.

Lee Farrow is a Distinguished Professor of History at the Auburn University at Montgomery, author of three books about connections between Russia and the U.S., and a speaker of the U.S. Speakers Program of the U.S. Embassy Moscow.  She grew up in Louisiana and received a Ph.D. in History from Tulane University, with a specialty in Russian History.
