In this series of online workshops, we will look at flash fiction and other ultra short literary genres that reflect the quick pace of modern life. We will read and discuss micro stories, essays and other literary forms and try our hands at creative writing exercises together.
Requirements: Upper-level English is expected from participants. Bring a pen, a notebook, and your enthusiasm.
This session of Flash Fiction workshop will be co-hosted by Arina Boyko, a prose and theatre writer based in Moscow. Arina co-founded a literary journal Neznanie that publishes new voices of contemporary Russian literature. She is also an author behind the Telegram-blog Go fiction yourself. You can read her short stories in various anthologies on Bookmate and in the Unost Journal. She teaches creative writing at university and elsewhere.
Workshop is hosted by Denis Aksenov and Zamy Altukhanova, AMC Volunteers.
Denis Aksenov is a long-time host of the American Dramedy Play Reading Club at the American Center in Moscow. He has taken reative writing courses with Gotham Writers and Second City and is currently struggling with the University of Massachusetts Liberal Arts distance learning classes.
Zamy Altukhanova is a literary enthusiast who loves reading books, discussing them, and writing something that can become a … book! Zamy holds an MA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Literary and Cultural Studies.
