Today we virtually welcome Calvin Booker, New York-based tap dancer, two-time winner of legendary “Showtime @ the Apollo” and original cast member of Broadway show FELA!  

The program is implemented in coordination with the Vortex Dance Theater, Russian School of American Tap, Tap Studio “Flap", the Forum for Cultural Engagement, and the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

Calvin Booker is a Brooklyn-born tap dancer who has performed both domestically and internationally. Since the age of 7, Calvin danced professionally with the group The Young Hoofers, which became two-time winners of New York City’s legendary Showtime at the Apollo television show and performed at other New York City landmark venues such as the Lincoln Center. Calvin was an original member of the Afro-modern dance company Creative Outlet: Dance Theater of Brooklyn, and was an original cast member of the Broadway hit show FELA! Calvin has worked across many cultures to inspire through culture and to encourage the constant development of tap and other classic art forms.

The Russian interpretation will be provided during this virtual meeting.
