Do you think there is only one “American accent”? In fact there are more than one. During the lecture series “American Accents” you will learn more about how diverse American English is and how many accents it includes.
Is there a “Standard American English”? And who speaks StAmE? If you ask any Midwesterner, they will say that they speak standard English without any accent. Is it true? On November 30, learn more about “Standard” Midwestern English in the second lecture of this series.
This lecture series includes the following lectures:
1) November 23 at 6 pm -- East Coast accents
2) November 30 at 6 pm -- Midwestern accents
3) December 7 at 6 pm Southern Accents
4) December 14 at 6 pm -- West Coast Accents
About the lecturer: Alina Korshunova, Fulbright Alumna. Alina holds a bachelor’s degree in theoretical and applied linguistics from Pyatigorsk State University and a master’s degree in linguistics from Eastern Michigan University.
