Today we discuss America’s First Congress: The Articles of Confederation.
Before the US Constitution was drafted and ratified the United States experimented with a simpler form of government that was more similar to a confederation of individual states than the Constitutional federal system. This lecture will explore the form Congress took under the Articles of Confederation and the principle factors that led to their replacement in less than ten years from enactment.
Led by Dr. Erik Olsen, a Dutch-American Historian. Born in New York, he works for the Universiteit van Amsterdam as a Researcher. His current project is about the evolution of regulatory legislation following Watergate.
