Welcome to a virtual talk with Stacy Wolf, Professor of Theater and American Studies, Director of the Princeton Arts Fellows, and Director of the Program in Music Theater at Princeton University; Kristina Matvienko, Curator of the Stanislavsky Electrotheater’s School of Contemporary Viewers and Listeners and the Director of the Magister Program focused on Social Theatre at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts – GITIS (Moscow).

Moderated by Theater Director and Arts Leader Seema Sueko.

Stacy Wolf is Professor of Theater and American Studies, Director of the Princeton Arts Fellows, and Director of the Program in Music Theater at Princeton University. At Princeton, Stacy holds affiliations with Gender and Sexuality Studies, Urban Studies, Ethnographic Studies, and Jewish Studies. He is the author of A Problem Like Maria: Gender and Sexuality in the American Musical; Changed for Good: A Feminist History of the Broadway Musical. Her new book, Beyond Broadway: The Pleasure and Promise of Musical Theatre Across America, explores how the musical theater repertoire finds new life at local and amateur venues across the US, including summer camps, high schools, community theatres, and afterschool programs.

Kristina Matvienko studied in the Department of Journalism at the Far East State University, and degrees from in Journalism from St. Petersburg State University in 1996, and theatre research from the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatre Art. She served as the editor of the theatre section in Time Out magazine Moscow and was the Artistic Director of the New Drama Festival. She has been a play selector for the Lyubimovka Young Playwrighting Festival, a member of the advisory council of the Golden Mask Festival; Curator of the Russian Case program of the Golden Mask Festival; and Curator of the Mask Plus Festival within the Golden Mask Festival. She has served as the Curator of the Stanislavsky Electrotheater’s School of Contemporary Viewers and Listeners since 2015, and Director of the Magister Program focused on Social Theatre at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts – GITIS (Moscow). She frequently publishes in newspapers and magazines.
