The American Center in Moscow invites you on March 2 at 8:00 PM MSK to attend the fifth presentation followed by a discussion in a seven-part series on the history of American abstract art.
The American Center in Moscow invites those who are interested in art in general and American art in particular to join a series of seven weekly presentations followed by discussions that will give a comrehensive overview of a very interesting period in the history of art in America — abstract art.
The topic of the fifth presentation in the series on March 2 at 8:00 PM MSK is "Jackson Pollock. Abstract Expressionism. Action Painting. Lee Krasner. Collage." It will introduce one of the most famous artists — Jackson Pollock, and will reveal the essentials of an important notion in art — action painting. The work of another artist, Lee Krasner, who was Jackson Pollock’s wife and made an important contribution to American abstract art, especially in collage, will also be explored in this presentation.
Led by Medea Paatashvili, an artist and curator of exhibitions. Currently Medea is pursuing a Master’s degree in History and Theory of Art at the Russian State University for the Humanities. Medea has arranged 42 exhibitions, and she also conducts master classes in drawing and painting.
