Are you interested in learning a bit more about Astronomy? Come to this workshop on April 6 at 7PM MSK and you will get a chance to learn about two very important topics in astronomy! You will learn about constellations and how they have been important for a long time and still are important to this date. You will also learn about galaxies and how they can be described by their different shapes and sizes. This workshop is held as part of the camp "Space for everyone" on April 6-21.
Who is it for: Ages 6 -12, intermediate level of English, no previous knowledge of Astronomy required
Materials needed:
Constellations
- Toilet paper roll (just the cardboard core)
- Black construction paper
- Scissors
- Constellation template (the template will be sent out to the registered participants)
- Rubber bands
- Toothpick/Thumbtack (adult supervision needed)
Galaxies:
- Scissors
- Galaxy images (the template will be sent out to the registered participants)
Led by: Irene Vargas-Salazar, PhD student from the University of Michigan. Irene studies massive binaries, which are pairs of the biggest stars found in the universe.
