Based on the screenplay written by Woody Allen and Marshall Brickman, the film stars Allen as comedian Alvy Singer and Diane Keaton as struggling nightclub singer Annie Hall. The was highly praised and won four of the Big Five Academy Awards. It ranks among the best films ever made, and in 1992, the Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
