Dr. Yvonne Howell, a native of Los Angeles, CA, is a Professor of Russian and Global Studies at the University of Richmond, VA in the United States. In this live-streamed event, Dr. Howell and moderator Laura Ann Singh will discuss Dr. Howell’s studies in the Soviet Union, the year she spent tracking bird migrations with Russian ornithologists, and the moment she decided to get a degree in Russian studies to better understand the rich complexities of Russian culture. Dr. Howell has published extensively on Russian and Soviet science fiction, and is currently researching the history of yoga in the USSR.
