About the English Language Specialist:

Monica Conlan has fifteen years of experience working in higher education with a focus on college access and university admissions. She has coached hundreds of students through the undergraduate and graduate admissions processes, taught intensive courses on college essay writing, and delivered workshops and professional development on academic writing, leadership and professionalism. Her experience includes support and advocacy for English Language Learners in the United States, teaching English at a secondary school in Mexico, and teaching online college courses to Japanese students preparing for undergraduate study in the U.S. Monica is a first-generation college graduate who holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in Counselor Education from Western Michigan University, and a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Nevada, Reno.
