A weekly club to practice English
What does it mean to sound American? If you visit America or interact with Americans long enough, you'll discover that there isn't one standard accent. Within the United States are multiple regional dialects, with words and pronunciations that often cause mystery and confusion for residents of various states/regions — and sometimes within the same state itself! A New Yorker might not understand a Texan, who might not understand a Minnesotan and on and on!
At our next English Conversation Club meeting with Tiffany Law, we'll learn about different kinds of American accents and whether you might be able to guess where an American is from based on his/her speech.
