The number of people participating in exchange programs between Russia and the United States over the years has risen and fallen as the relationship between the two countries has warmed and cooled. Come learn about the history of these programs and the personal impact they have had on one who has been professionally and personally involved with them for over 20 years.
Speaker’s bio:
Jynks Burton initially came to Russia in 2000 for a two-year stay as a volunteer with the US Peace Corps and ended up staying 17 years. Before coming to Russia, Jynks worked in international education in Washington, DC, and continued in the field in Russia, before moving on to a career starting up and running food manufacturing businesses in Moscow. Having returned to the US in 2017, Jynks now lives with her family in New York state, where they hosted a high school student from Smolensk for the 2017-2018 school year.
