Lecture: "Harlem Rennaissance and its influence on American Society during Roaring Twenties"

The American Center in Moscow invites you to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month by attending a lecture about the Harlem Rennaissance and its influence on American society in the Roaring Twenties.

The Harlem Renaissance expressed a desire to show America the African-American spirit. By combining writers, artists, musicians, and thinkers the Harlem Renaissance turned into a concept of identity and racial pride. Harlem Renaissance changed the game completely. In this lecture, you will find out more about the Harlem Renaissance, how it developed during the Prosperity Era, and how this movement influenced the society of the 1920s.

Lecture by Maria Britousova, a fourth-year student of the Russian State University for the Humanities majoring in American Studies. Her final research paper explores the impact of African- American culture on American society during the Prosperity Era of the 1920s. She will present her research on the Harlem Renaissance as a part of her research work.
