The American Center in Moscow invites you to a talk about American cultural influence around the globe.
It is becoming evident that the American culture is manifested in the mind sets of common public regardless of language, religion, and ideology. Today we will talk about the role of Hollywood in shaping the American culture as we know it today. We will explore its roots from the early 20th century and discuss how it has developed recently. Starting from Gramsci theory of cultural hegemony to the encoding/decoding model of Stuart Hall, this discussion will be based on these concepts to better analyze and understand the American culture of today’s world.
